Raymond James (RJFS) says wealth management guru Sallie Krawcheck will be the keynote speaker at its 20th annual Women’s Symposium set for mid-October in St. Petersburg, Fla.
“Sallie Krawcheck is an extraordinary woman, and we value her leadership in the financial services industry,” said Nicole Spinelli, director of Raymond James’ Network for Women Advisors, in an interview. “It’s very befitting for us to have someone of her caliber with us to celebrate the 20th year of the event.”
Krawcheck is the chair of Ellevate Network and former president of the Global Wealth & Investment Management unit of Bank of America (BAC). She acquired the women’s organization 85 Broads in 2013; the group recently changed its name to Ellevate and plans to launch an index fund in cooperation with Pax World Management that will invest in companies with a sizeable number of women officers and directors.
“The network and this event are proof that a small group of committed individuals can make an impact – we have close to twice the number of practicing female financial advisors than the industry average and several female advisors who regularly rank among the top professionals in the industry,” said Raymond James CEO Paul Reillly, in a press release.

Marriott International, Inc. (MAR) announced on Tuesday that its Chief Operations Officer will retire early next year.
COO Robert J. McCarthy has worked for the hotel company for 38 years and was appointed to his current position in late 2011. In February of 2014, Marriott will give broader responsibilities to several other executives, who will oversee some of McCarthy’s prior responsibilities. Dave Grissen, Stephanie Linnartz, and Bruce Hoffmeister will all be given broader roles within the company.
Commenting on McCarthy’s retirement, President and CEO Arne Sorenson noted “I am tremendously enthusiastic about our future as these talented executives assume their new responsibilities, building on Bob’s legacy. We all wish Bob and his family the very best”.
Marriott shares traded 0.14% higher during Tuesday’s session. Year-to-date, the stock is up 10.85%.

Gangsters and Guitarists Through a quirk of urban planning, the Strip -- a 1.6-mile stretch of Sunset Boulevard -- was part of unincorporated land within Los Angeles city limits (these days, it belongs to the micro-city of West Hollywood). As such, it was overseen not by the L.A. Police Department, but by the more lax County Sheriff's department. Entrepreneurs took advantage of this, and in the early 20th century the Strip soon became the hottest entertainment destination in the L.A. area, home to clubs, bars and the occasional house of ill repute. In the 1940s and 1950s its nightclubs frequently hosted the top stars of the era. Many a band across the subsequent decades rose to prominence playing joints like The Roxy, Whisky A Go Go (still going strong at 50), and the Viper Room. Throughout the world, the Strip was nearly synonymous with nightlife. So much so that, according to some, its name was cribbed by the burgeoning city of Las Vegas to title the strategic section of its main thoroughfare. For many years now, the heart of Las Vegas Boulevard has been known simply as "The Strip." The City That Sometimes Sleeps The Strip is not the only game in town for visitors. Hotels that cater to a middle-class and upper-income individual are less likely to see a big fluctuation in hotel demand during the summer months. Of the two underground mines consisting the Velardena Operations, the Velardena mine includes three different vein systems, including the Santa Juana, San Juanes and San Mateo systems. The second mine, the Chicago mine, is a producing mine located on the Chicago property approximately two kilometers south of the Velardena property.
The Company owns a 300 ton-per-day flotation sulfide mill situated near the town of Velardena. The mill has fully operational lead, zinc, and pyrite flotation circuits which produce lead, zinc and pyrite concentrates from the sulfide ore. The Company also own a conventional 550 ton-per-day cyanide leach oxide mill with a Merrill Crowe precipitation circuit and new installed flotation circuit, which is located adjacent to its Chicago mine. The mill is used to process oxide and mixed sulfide/oxide material from the Velardena Operations.
El Quevar
The Company's El Quevar silver project is located in the San Antonio de los Cobres municipality, Salta Province, in the altiplano region of northwestern Argentina, approximately 300 kilometers by! road northwest of the city of Salta, the capital city of the province. The El Quevar project is located near Nevado Peak with altitudes at the concessions ranging from 3,800 to 6,130 meters above sea level. The El Quevar project is consists of 32 exploitation concessions. The Company holds 31 of the concessions directly, and the Company controls the Nevado I concession, located approximately four kilometers from the Yaxtche target.
Zacatecas (Mexico)
The Zacatecas Mining District is located in the central part of Mexico, in the Faja de Plata mineral belt. The company gets its revenues from two types of fees: management fees which are linked to the assets under management (AUM) and performance fees which can be quite volatile. Over the last five years AUM have increased by around 4% per annum from the low at the end of 2008. However, revenues have decreased by around 7% per annum. Performance fees have held up okay since 2008, but management fees have taken a big hit. Since revenues are dependent on the average AUM over the whole year, let�� look at revenues from 2009 ��they have grown by around 6.5% per annum in this case. Institutional clients are more sticky and stable compared to retail, but the company has not managed to increase AUM from this source substantially over the last five years.
